I had two names in mind as title for this; either a ‘friendly God or a beautiful God’… This came about as a result of my appreciation for what God can be in situations. How he envelopes our challenges and consumes us with Peace amidst our storms.

I had someone close to me go through a helpless situation. I noticed this person was unusually troubled, down and could barely eat. I tried getting close to the person just to be there and listen. One of the mornings, while I was about leaving home for work, I called this person on the phone and decided to pray with him.

I prayed that, he will have joy, that he will have peace, have appetite and prayed that, God will remember his heart and kindness. I knew him as someone who is kind to many. He sobbed as though tears run down while I spoke those words to God.

Guess what? Someone who was struggling to eat was now having breakfast same day. He did prepare for lunch and had dinner too, in small portions by the way. That was big for me! I remember telling him to try speaking to God same way he speaks to me as a friend. He(God) listens.

It was comforting seeing how God was showcasing an aura of warmth and love around him. I could feel his friendliness and need to be free shortly after. The person once upon a time who was gloomy and sad began to exude life.

That got me glad. It was heartwarming to see. While driving that day, I was appreciative of how God came through even before the main problem that put him in that space was solved. We need to be sane about 80% of the time to resolve some of our problems.

I sighed and uttered: a beautiful God, No may be a Friendly or Nice God.

He is that Nice. He is beyond Kind and he Truly Cares.

I’m not sure how 2023 started for you and how it is ending. I wanted to remind you gently that, there’s a beautiful and friendly God who can calm your situation and shed light into your darkness.

2024 will be a mind blowing one based on how well you will be able to handle the hurdles 2023 bring. The lessons and wisdom in 2023 will be worth a better 2024.

We just have to believe. James 2:23, “And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.”

There is Validation.There Confidence.And Control also exist.While Validation can be unhealthy, Progress is.

Progress in little,not so little or big things.How we react to circumstances.The feeling which comes with reacting better & dealing with issues you face in the current year compared to prior year can be gratifying.

I have always told Teams I work with that, how clients or prospects treat us is not about who we are,rather,it is about them.Who they are,what they have experienced & their overall mood.

To think that,as a training personnel with rich field experience,I believed dealing with difficult clients & prospects was facile until a recent encounter with an old client who wanted more of our “attention” sent some chills down my spine.

Assisting this person with request,being prompt with enquiry & kind wasn’t enough.

Then I noticed the actions were deliberate.The words were piercing.Hoping someone with experience in Relationship banking will extend some Grace to us,but No!

A member of the Team who was assigned to this person said to me, “Tina,this one is too rude and quite heartless.”😊I agreed.Nothing I have seen before but we still need to remain calm & sweet.

Two cannot make a right.Our customers are paramount.Thanks to what this one is doing,we will Grow & evolve better.

Then,to dealing with some internal customers over what one perceives as things we should have outgrown,I appreciated Progress over how issues are dealt with than bringing emotions to it.

Emotions may come in because of our expectation of growth from the other parties.The hope that,others will understand & treat us better if not appreciate us in each situation.Truth is,no one owes you allegiance or kindness.It is an individual decision which cannot be forced.

Contrary to showing people kindness so they can replicate,I know there are those we show genuine love & kindness who will turn a blind eye but be ‘who they choose to be.’

As I mulled over these two situations,three things came to mind:

1. Forget about people’s intentions.My number 1 emotional intelligence & office politics rule.Sometimes you know what people want to drive at,ignore.

2. Know your Triggers.What causes you to flip?In this situation,I preferred texting.It is good to be expressive, but being quiet helps.Responding,when not in the heat of work.No explanations,being calm & polite.

3. Seek Help.I spoke to the lady from my Team.’She had to talk to him more’.When he raises his voice,be as soft-spoken & polite as possible.I had to get her to assist speak to him.I knew my triggers too well.

Grow!Through experience & discomfort,the only way it gets better.Doesn’t get you to stay in Emotions.The way to Progress.

Whilst I don’t support that people should be deliberately rude & hostile,I know too well & learning to accept that,what others elicit is not about us but them.

Spread light & Positive Energy.Progress, Emotions will subside.

I dreaded those who were only interested in seeing Flaws.

Little did I see that, my weaknesses however, also made me Stand out.

Subsequently, I couldn’t Hide my Strength anymore.

The World sees it More! I work Everyday to be a Better Me.🌎
